Skye Canyon's October Comes Down to One Thursday Night

On a Thursday at 2 p.m., the lower parking lot by Skye Fitness becomes a market. Fresh52 brings in more than 25 Southern Nevada vendors who sell produce, cottage foods, baked goods and crafts, and food trucks park around them. Through October 29 the market stays open until 8 p.m. On November 5 it moves to winter hours and closes at 6:30.

That shift in hours shapes the rest of the month. The Skye Canyon calendar puts its biggest new event on the last long Thursday of the season. The October Saturdays before it fill up around Skye Center and Skye Canyon Park, both a short walk from that parking lot.

Six hours, then four and a half

This year Fresh52 has published three different hours for the Skye Canyon market, depending on the season.

  • Summer 2026: Fresh52's location page lists Skye Canyon Park on Thursdays from 4 to 8 p.m. Las Vegas Weekly gave the same hours in its March 12, 2026 roundup of local markets.
  • September 3 through October 29: 2 to 8 p.m.
  • Starting November 5: 2 to 6:30 p.m.

The fall window runs six hours. That's two more than summer and an hour and a half more than winter, so of this year's three schedules, the eight weeks from September into October run longest. Once November starts, the market stops at 6:30, and an 8 p.m. stop for dinner from a food truck is off the table until the schedule changes again.

The market is not new to Skye Canyon. The community's event archive lists a Thursday farmers market on June 3, 2021, also running 2 to 8 p.m. The current version runs under the Fresh52 Farmers & Artisan Market name, and Fresh52 gives its address as 10111 W Skye Canyon Park Dr., Las Vegas, NV 89166.

Why October 29 carries the month

Skye Canyon is holding its first Trunk or Treat on Thursday, October 29, from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Skye Center parking lot. The event page also points to the Fresh52 market running that afternoon from 2 to 8 p.m.

The three hours of trick-or-treating fall entirely inside the market's six. That Thursday is also the last day of fall hours. One week later, the market closes ninety minutes earlier.

The trunks come from neighbors. The organizers have invited Skye Canyon residents and local businesses to host a trunk, and hosting is free. Hosts decorate a vehicle around a Halloween theme and bring candy, and registered hosts get arrival times, parking instructions and setup details closer to the date. The sign-up form asks for a business name and a vehicle type, so plan to have both ready.

Two days later, Aspire Coffee House holds its own Halloween event on Saturday, October 31, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and invites guests to come in costume. Aspire is inside Skye Center at 10111 West Skye Canyon Park Drive, the same address as the market, so the community's Halloween happens at a single address.

The Saturdays leading up to it

Most of the month's other events fall on Saturdays, and each one happens at Skye Center or the park.

  1. October 3 and 4, yard sale weekend. The community-wide yard sale runs from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. both days, and the event page lists which neighborhoods are taking part. On Sunday afternoon from 2 to 5 p.m., the association offers free paper shredding and an Opportunity Village donation drop at the North Parking Lot. Anything that didn't sell can be donated that afternoon. The same Saturday opened at 7 a.m. with Sweat 'N Sip at Skye Canyon Park, a beginner-friendly workout. Registration was $10, and an Aspire latte after class cost $5.50.
  2. October 10, Slime Workshop. Skye Center runs sessions at 3 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. The community calendar shows both sessions sold out.
  3. October 17, Fall Mixology Class. The class starts at noon at Skye Center. For $55 per person, guests learn two cocktails and get champagne and charcuterie.
  4. October 24, Chalk & Cheers. This one takes up the whole park.

One weekday event is also on the calendar. On Monday, October 19, Smith's Pharmacy runs a vaccine clinic at Skye Center from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome, and the organizer's booking code is SKYEVAC26.

These events sell out at different speeds. The slime sessions sold out about a week ahead. The mixology class and the vaccine clinic were still listed as open.

Chalk & Cheers, ten years in

The Trunk or Treat is new this year, and Chalk & Cheers is ten years old. The 10th Annual Chalk & Cheers takes over Skye Canyon Park on Saturday, October 24. Artists compete in a live chalk art contest, and visitors walk the park and vote for their favorites. Admission is free, and the event page invites the wider Las Vegas community, not only Skye Canyon.

The published schedule runs as follows:

  • 8 a.m., vendor and artist check-in
  • 11 a.m., festival opens
  • 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., stage performances by Victory Martial Arts
  • 3:15 p.m., chalk art winners announced
  • 3:30 p.m., festival ends

The listed food vendors are World's Best Corndogs, Mr. Funnel Cake, Empanada Factory and Flip n Grill. The festival also has a pumpkin patch, inflatables and games. The artisanal vendor village is sold out, and late vendors can join a waitlist. All event proceeds go to CORE Powered by The Rogers Foundation.

The festival closes at 3:30 on a Saturday. Five days later, the Trunk or Treat starts at 4 on a Thursday. Families who want a pumpkin can get one at Chalk & Cheers, which leaves five days to carve it before the trunks open.

The park can handle that much in one week. Skye Canyon Park has a half-mile walking path, courts, a hockey rink, play areas and dog parks. On festival day, the vendor village, pumpkin patch and stage all share that space.

Getting to Skye Center this month

Some roads near the events have work permits this month. The City of Las Vegas street-disruption report, dated September 24, 2026, lists approved fiber-splicing work on Grand Canyon Drive at Skye Canyon Park Drive and on West Grand Teton Drive at Grand Canyon Drive. Both run through October 23. The same report lists storm-drain work on Shaumber Road and Tropical Parkway through October 6.

The Grand Canyon Drive permits expire the day before Chalk & Cheers. The Shaumber and Tropical work should finish after the yard sale weekend. The rest of October's events run with no work listed on those approaches, though the report covers approved permits, not a guarantee of crews on site on any given day.

What comes after the market moves to winter hours

Once the market switches to winter hours, the next addition on the city's calendar is a new park. On April 27, 2026, the City of Las Vegas announced that Century Communities and the city would break ground on Igor Soldo Memorial Park on April 30, at Iron Mountain Road and Alpine Ridge Way. The park is named for Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Officer Igor Soldo. Century Communities is paying for construction under a development agreement with the city, and its division president thanked Skye Canyon among the groups that advocated for the park.

The plans include a playground, a water play area, soccer fields and pickleball courts, and the park is scheduled to open in early 2027. Until it opens, Skye Canyon Park is where the community's weekly calendar happens. By the time the new park opens, the Thursday market will be close to switching from winter hours to its next schedule.

For this month, the dates are settled. The farmers market runs 2 to 8 p.m. every Thursday through October 29, Chalk & Cheers fills the park on October 24, and the first Trunk or Treat runs from 4 to 7 p.m. on October 29, the last day of fall market hours.

How easy it is to walk from home to Skye Center on a Thursday afternoon affects what a Skye Canyon home is worth, but a square-footage comparison won't show it.
